Will this work? I was told it won't so i'm just trying to get some actual answers. So yeah, will a 2000 Sunfire 2.4 fit in a 97 sunfire GT?
yes it will fit just like stock
the only thing you have to do it drill your knock sensor bigger

You'll also need a mid to late 99+ wiring harness as well I believe.. Remember the 2000+ has a smaller starter, it also doen't have the egr that the 97 has.

So can the 97 harness be used? Not sure what you're saying. I am talking about 2 whole cars here so can the starter and egr be simply switched over?
yep just put your egr and your 97 exhaust manifold and get a 97 exhaust manifold gasket you dont need the whole wiring harness. The 2000 starter will work with the 97 harness as well

you need to use the 97 injectors. Search and you'll find. It has been discuss a billion time.

Many people have done the swap here. Just keep your injectors and EGR and drill for the knock sensor and you should be good. I will say some people have commented and how the 2000+ engine feels better than the 96-99

Incorrect. You use the engine harness already in the car. You use the injectors, and EGR already in the car. You do need to drill and tap the knock sensor hole to make it bigger. It is really a pretty easy swap. Been there done that.
