Designing Ecotec, LD9, and 2.2/2200 pulleys...all
Monday, August 07, 2006 1:49 PM
This process is very time consuming.

The LD9 crank pulley design is done for now. The LD9, ecotec, and 2200 alternator pulley is under redesign for better fitment on all aftermarket alternators, and lighter weight.

The Ecotec crank pulley is currently being designed as two parts. A steel shaft, and an aluminum hub and pulley. This is being done solly from the pulley driving the oil pump. I do not feel confident having a complete aluminum crank pulley from a stress, and durability standpoint. If I wouldn't put it on my car, its not right! Still working on this junction of aluminum and steel. Still not sure on direction I going on fastening method.

One benefit of this would be that I could have one shaft and a 5 ribbed pulley and a 6 ribbed version.

2200 / 2.2 crank pulley, Cake, will have design done when Ecotec design is done. How much room is there between frame rail and pulley face?

Any concerns questions comments, anything feel free to ask, and discuss.

thanks for the update man. I just know there's going to be LOTS of interest in the Eco pulleys, especially after the work you put into the LD9 pulleys. now I just need an Eco!

PM'ed back.

Running total 9 NO FIT.... 6 FIT ~~SHRUGS~~
Next round all fit.
AEM had two designs, but could not keep them straight because of the same problem I'm having. So AEM now offers only one size a .6720" bore. Just FYI.

Damn... maybe I should actually get my ass out there and check if mine will fit.

Mike, is there any way to tell if the pulley will fit by measuring? I wasn't planning on installing it for a while as I'm still trying to get the car running.

Yes measuring your alternator shaft, but that is hard to do with the stock pulley on it.
