I would try to buy one with a K&N filter on it, the cheap filters they put on those intakes are junk.

The one on that auction is a short ram. It attaches to the expansion box on top of the throttle body. I would look for 1 that goes to the throttle body like this one:

i have heard of them not fitting, and i wanna make sure they have spots for the IAT sensor or whatever.... i want a short ram, because my turbosport hood shoots air right where my stock airbox is. is there any of those out there that hook up to the TB, but are short ram?

Just go to an exhaust shop and have them mandrel bend a 2.75 or 3" pipe it the shape you need, and add a filter on the end, and your good to go.

Get one that attaches to the throttle body and then replace the filter with a K&N...simple as that. Like everyone else said.

get an injen/aem or a decent name brand, ebay intakes are terrible.

and this is for anybody who says "an intake is just a tube with a filter on it"
no kidding! you get what you pay for, if a tube with a filter on it is cheap, its probably made of cheap materials! what a revelation!

ive seen a lot of people that buy ebay intakes that end up breaking or not fitting right at all. last year a friend of mine with a '98 Z bought one and after a month of having it on the car, the mounting bracket that holds it to the ps reservoir broke off.

spend the extra 80 bucks, and buy an intake that doesn't suck.

^^bracket cost how much at lowes or homedepot... .75-.85 cents... yeah just cause a bracket breaks doesnt mean intake is crap... they all do the exact same thing....

I've seen a lot of @!#$ in my days, but damn... WAI on a 2.4... they sound cool. PERIOD. Waste of money, I have had one, and for all the extra noise, not worth 0.5 HP above 6000rpm, warm air pulls timing, just a thought.

I bought 3' of 3" exhaust pipe from Meinekie, cut my stock s-tube in half, took the resonator box off from the throttle body, and put the half of the s-stube w/out the IAT hole straight out of the throttle body, w/ about 18" of pipe to the other half of the s-tube w/ the iat sensor turned down, right next to the battery, then about another 18" of pipe to a K&N down behind the bottom of the radiator. Cool air, no problems in 3 years.

actually, after we installed a new aem intake on his car we took the broken intake to a shop, had them weld the bracket back on, then we sold it to some kid for $15. two months later it broke again in a different spot.

which brings me back to my point. yes, an intake is just a tube with a filter on it, I GET IT. but if you buy a cheap intake, you're much more likely to have problems.

Cool, go for the intake if you want, but steer far clear of oiled filters like K&N. Here's why

the tube really doesnt matter just buy a 20 dollar one and slap on a K&N like everybody else said

Why pay even $100 for something like an empty tube that is bent? F that noise, buy it from ebay and replace the filter.
