Boom...

Yup, I detonated...

Oh yeah... detonated HARD... about an 1/8th of the ring land is gone, and there was nothing left in the cylinder either... the combustion chamber and piston is gouged to hell... the walls are slightly scored as well. Block might be salvageable, but the head, pistons and valves are done for.

The bits must have jumped over to #3 and #1... because there's marks in the pistons and combustion chambers there too. #2 is fine though... how odd.

Anyway... now I have to decide... Ecotec swap? (Or other motor swap?) Or build up the 2.4L.... either way, the car's off the road for a while. Maybe I'll make HIN Seattle... maybe I won't

Sigh... stupid car...

Sorry to hear about your luck, but like Scarab said....it's time to upgrade. Hope you get it back on the road soon.

What happend? Do you have a smaller pulley? NOS? Just wondering why it went. Your mods didn't look to drastic. I would build what you have, or hmm, do the 2.4 eco swap maybe?. I don't think anyone has attempted it yet. Suxs to hear about the car though.

Nah, nothing special.. just the ported head, oversize valves, cams and the supercharger. It's been pinging occasionally since I put the S/C on there... I knew something wasn't quite right, but when I replaced the blown head gasket a few months ago everything looked kosher... despite the once-in-a-while pinging.

Let this be a lesson learned for all of you.... GAUGES!! I have 'em, but I've been too lazy to hook them up. I didn't even bother to hook up the A/F gauge to see what it was doing.... sigh...

If I swap engines... it'll be Eco to get it going.... or maybe it's time to go L67 the g/f would KILL ME if I did that tho...

Or maybe it's time to build the bottom end up big time... either way, I'll have to save up for some parts...

Dang sorry to hear. I think you should stay with the 2.4. I would probably just find a used one and put in. At worse case rebuild yours. I'm sure the block is fine, and heck the head can probably be fixed as well. As SpeedRacer about what happened to his and it was fixed.

Lenko, I have a W41 if you want to put that in and supercharge the W41, 115,000 on the clock.

KABOOM eh? That sucks.... I would say do the W4-1 but converting everything to OBD1 would suck. Do Eco 2.4 that would rock worlds I think .

Why? You don't need to swap to OBDI for the 2.3. You can run a 2.3 with a 2.4 ecm no problem.

Then people need to get their facts straight because I asked about it a while back in a topic and everybody told me to swap a 2.4 out with a 2.3 you had convert to OBD1, and that you would have to rewire your entier car.

Only issue I see is the CPS sensor that the 2.3 doesn't have. Pickup HP Tuners and don't see any issues

You also have to weld a bung on the 2.3 block for the knock sensor. Swapping a 2.3L bottom end (or tall block) is mostly bolt-on. There are a few issues, it's not all that bad really.

I still think he should do a LQ1 with turbo.

2200 ohv swap...

what seriously

Re: Boom...

I don't know of anyone running a stock Quad 4 with a 2.4L PCM... I still don't see how you'd run it properly without swapping the missing sensors onto it.

Anyway.... if I'm going to swap anything, it'd be the L67... supercharger V6 3.8L

But... chances are pretty good I'll build up the 2.4L... forged rods and pistons... bore it out a bit, lower the compression a wee bit, so I can run more boost when I'm done
