im going to be installing the megan racing exhaust soon...i purchased a new set of 3 bolts and a new gasket from the dealer for the flange behind the cat. the bolts seem huge to me...and the gasket says "EXH MAN" on the label...which has me worried that ive got the wrong parts. do i need a gasket for the cat back? should the bolts be about 5-6" long, i guess its 13mm?

ok..the gasket was wrong.they gave me this cork one that looks much more realistic. should i have bothered replacing it?? the bolts look to be the right size, but way too long...maybe the superceeded it or something. anyone know for sure??

On my 04, those bolts were only a couple inches in length and the original gasket was a metallic-type, not cork. I don't think cork, if that is what it is, will hold up to the temperatures present at the output of the cat. On mine, the exhaust pipe flange was threaded, so the extra length may not be a problem. I guess it depends on the clearance present between the flange and the resonator. But make sure the bolts are metric strength class 10 (10.8 or 10.9). This is equivalent to Grade 8 in the English System. You can also buy replacement bolts at any good hardware store. That's where I bought mine.

did you replace the gasket or did you re-use the original??

When i installed my header i re-used the original metal exhaust manifold gasket with no problems. About a year ago and still no leaks. It sounds like the bolts they gave you are for the manifold to the down-pipe, they are approx the length you stated.

When I disconnected the cat/exh pipe flange, half of the gasket stayed on one flange and half on the other. So I replaced it. But mine had a metallic appearance, not cork. Maybe yours is not cork but some sort of high temp fiber material?
it could be...it looks like cork, its brown.
the gasket you replaced was a simple, one peice gasket, circular, i guess maybe around 2" or so?

Yes. It fits over a small pipe protrusion on the cat flange. Should be about 2" I.D.
