Hey my name is Mike Ihave an 03' cav I am wanting to put a header on ,and wondering what kind of gains I will get. Also I've been wanting to remove the governor can anyone tell me how to remove it or what after market parts or chip i can buy to improve perfomance aswell as remove gov. Thanks.
Lets begin like this. There is no chip that you can get for the computer. The gains you will get from a header, just get it put it on and see. All depends on your car, all cars are different, but I could be wron on this one, I would say maybe 10 hp at the most from the header and a cat back. As far as the gov. that is not discussed on this site, and since you asked a forbidden question, this thread will more than likely be locked. Use the search button to find the information that you seek, everything that you can think of has been asked and answered here on this site, use the search. But you will find nothing on the gov., all is loked and or erased.

The header will not help you unless you do the rest of the exhaust too.
As for the speed governer...there is a way to remove it. HPTuners. See the tuning forum for more help. It seems to be a popular thing to do nowadays. There are also other ways of doing it, but you will not find that information on the JBO. We don't want to be held accountable.
Any aftermarket chip will be completely useless for our cars. Don't waste your money.
I live in Germany, drive on the Autobahn daily, and have suspension, wheels, tires to handle speed, but at the end of the day, it's still a Cavalier. There are ways of adjusting the governor, but I don't see any need to. It's highly inlikely that you will be able to go over 108 in a 1/4 mile. Plus, I've ridden with somebody else here in Germany with a Cavalier, suspension, brakes, wheels, tires, etc, and no governor limit, and he still doesn't go over 110 still doesn't feel stable at over 110.
