Hey guys. I can pick up a stock throttle body for my ecotec that was bored out 68mm at the opening, and tapers down to stock size at the throttle plate. Is there enough of a gain to be made here to make it worth the 50 bucks?

Anything with a stock plate is a waste of money IMO. I have a custom made plate that I got nice and cheap. 67-62-62. Without opening up the plate your just gonna restrict the flow by putting more air at it than it can take it.

Thanks for the input. Thats what I figured there would be a big bottleneck of air. You guys are great.

Not to be contrarian, but "funneling" more air into a bottleneck actually speeds it up, so low RPM will be more powerful. I noticed when I switched to the 56mm from 52mm throttle bodys that low rpm suck now but high rpm are better. I'd say $50 is not that bad for a nice wide opening, plus it gives you an extra TB to work with so if you decide to go boosted or cammed later you can have it bored to 60-something straight through and get a nice big plate.

It will give you some gains but like I said, IMO it's a waste.

where can you buy tb plates for the ecotec tb? if i knew where i would be a happy person 62mm plate of course
