Re: 2200 power record

my car gets about 22 mpg city now. and i drive very slow. i never even go 1/2 throttle cause the car is slow. and why waste gas to not move much faster?

i dont believe boosting my car would give me better fuel economy. i think id get worse, because it would need more fuel, and then id be giving it more throttle all of the time for fun.

I just want to thank everybody for their contributions to this thread. I was thinking about a rebuild, and even though it took about fourteen pages to get my answer, I got it. so thanks for the info.

Yes it is Aasryanth's Sunfire, and I sold the turbo kit, ported head, Quaife, etc... off of my 2200. I am still trying to sell the forged pistons and rods from the 2200.

I don't think it's his! Isn't it FF22's old car you're reffering to?

N2O + Bolt-ons = 220Hp/250Tq

Coming Soon:HpTunersPro, EagleConnectingRods, WiescoPistons, 13sec2200

eric i had first dibs on the forged internals

and adler how much do ya want for them

Re: 2200 power record

I did a rought estimate a few months back for how much i had spent, and i think it was around 9K total, but maybe like 5K in the motor. The rest would be suspension and audio, and interior

sk843143 and Eric A, check your PMs.....

Oh yea, they are 9:1 Venolia forged pistons with overzied full floating wrist pins, pin oilers, spiral locks & Eagle rods machined to fit the oversized wrist pins.

so does ne one know
cause thats what im hopeing for just wana know if its reasionable

Re: 2200 power record

According to Desktop Dyno, you can exceed 200 hp N/A. As for a street car, it would need some serious gearing, but doable, if you don't mind crusing at 3000+ rpm at 60 mph. This would be on premium gasoline with the compression needed.

what would the gearing have to do with the motors potential for all motor power?
Re: 2200 power record

he was talking about streetability the powerband would b so high that you would need a lot af gear to make it streatable

Eric A wrote:what would the gearing have to do with the motors potential for all motor power?

When you build a high horsepower engine, especially a small displacement, naturally aspirated motor, you need to turn higher rpms. Remember that horsepower is torque developed over time or mathematically: HP=TQ * RPM / 5252. For example: 150lbs/ft of torque X 6500rpm / 5252 = 185.6 HP. To get the higher rpms, the motor needs to built to move enough air to make that HP(an engine is an air pump, the more air you move the more power you make). When you build the motor to move that much air, you lose air velocity, which builds torque. Torque is what moves you off the line or off the corner, it makes you accelerate. The motor now has to turn higher rpms to get the air velocity up to produce the torque you once had in the lower rpms. You need lower gears(numerically higher) to get into the torque band to make the car move.

You can actually go slower in the 1/4 mile, if you build your motor with allot of horsepower and don't match the gearing to the torque band.

Horsepower is how fast you can go, torque is what makes the car move, so you newed to match the gearing to the torque of the motor to get the car going.

I don't have anything to contribute to this post, I wish I did. I don't think i've even posted on this forum yet. But I wanted to thank everyone that posts their builds and such. I've got a 97 2.2l notec with a few boltons that I like quite a bit. And I'm still not sure what I want to or plan to do with it, but it's great to see there's so much knowledge out there ready for my grabs if I want it.

I guess what I mean is.

Kudos, to all of you who have posted in this thread. Pat yerselves on the back, everyone deserves it now and then, yeh?

It's just so much easier (cheaper) to break 200hp with a turbo, there's not a ton of motivation to do it NA.
I bought my dyno2000 on ebay for like $30 a couple years ago.

You can find it at Pro Racing Sim,LLC. I have Desktop Dyno Basic, which would suffice for most peoples use. I do plan on upgading someday (along with everything else!)
