Heya guys I have been around these forums for a while, but when I stoped moding I stoped posting
. So now I am back and I would like to hit 200hp with my car. Right now I have I/H/E, underdrive pulleys, and I dyno'd 2 years ago at 115hp 130trq. Which is pretty good.
I have been reading alot of posts where guys are hitting over 200hp with trubo setups. Back when I was reading everyone was using nitrous and getting good gains. Nitrous would put me to where I want to be. What would you guys suggest I do to hit my goal reliably? I wouldnt mind spending a couple thousand to make it reliable (so nitrous isnt the only option because of price). I also dont want to have alot of downtime, since this is my only car. What do you guys think?

Hey man, im pretty new to this, but ive been doing a lot of reading (hotrodv6, madjack, event...) and it seems to me that without nitrous, or some sort of boost, the only way to get close to that 200hp mark is to drop some money into the block and head (rocker arms, valves/ vsprings, pushrods, lifters, cam...etc. you get the idea). if im wrong someone please let me know i wouldnt wanna have the guy spend money on crap... but at any rate once you get all the stuff ordered and get it installed you should be at least close to the 200 mark and maybe even happy with the amount of money you've spent (depending on your mechanic).
By the way... if i were you i would read up or do some searchin for posts by the guys i mentioned earlier. They ALL know their @#%! and hotrodv6 was working on a way to use 1.7(maybe more) roller rocker arms (from the LS1) on our cars (which would give you a lift of .777... too much for me but if you could make it work...)
AND yes i like to use flippin' parenthesis...
1.7 rockers arms on 2200
I think the Jtuners Turbo kit is what I am looking for to bad it might take a long time or me to get it.

You have a 2200 right??
If I was you, depending on whether this is your daily driver or not, do a 2.4 or an Ecotec swap and the GM supercharger if you're only looking for 200hp and to do it reliably.
If you wanted more, you could always change pulleys.
You could get an ecotec engine for around $500, swap it in and add the charger for around $2700.
I'd say all said and told, you'd be lookin at about $3500 all said and told. IDK if thats in ur price range or not.
Just an idea.

the gm supercharger kit for the 2.4 is only 2200 from gm parts direct.

With some head work, and nitrous you would be able to hit it I'm sure. A turbo would most likely, be the most reliable way to reach that, but would be more expensive and require more down time than the nitrous would. Either way, I would definately suggest some head work. The 2200 head is very restrictive.
I wish i knew the post i found it in, but i went with head work on mine cause people do say the head is the most restrictive element on the 2200.
