I finally got tired of the cheap Intake that i bought, it kept falling off and everything.
SO
Im taking a trip to my dads job (a shop that builds pumping systems) where i plan to fab up a custom intake for my sunfire. itll be out of 2.5" either aluminum or titanium, whichever i can get my hands on.
My question for this project is, where do i locate the IAT hole? Should i cut it closer to the filter side of the piping or closer to the TB side of it? my guess was that i should put it closer to the tb, so that the car gets a more accurate reading of actual air temps, but performancewise, i guess i should do it closer to the filter.
what do you guys think?
BTW I plan on boosting in the near future, so i will be selling this when im done with it, if anyone would be interested, but more importantly, where do i put the IAT?
You keep it in the stock location. That was optimal.
Moving it closer to the filer it usually best for performance, since it will read the coolest temperature.
I think im going to go with somewhere near the middle, right around where the ABS control box is, that area, this way it gets the best of both worlds, as it did stock i guess, where the air isnt as heated as its going to be by the time it hits the TB, and its also closer to the engine than the filter is, so its giving the coolest reading possible. thats what im going to do.
my CAI is inside my bumper infront of the rad cradle
