I need to add a fule pressure gauge onto my 03 ecotec fuel rail. The gauge says it has a 1/8 npt connection on the back. What is the exact size of the tap im going to need?!

thank you in advance.

1/8th NPT tap

Its a pipe tap if that helps, available at most hardware stores.

If you use a 1/8" NPT to 1/8" NPT nipple, you'll need a 1/8" tap

EDIT: Bah, trust me to take too long to respond...

wow , john knows how to give US measurements , LOL j/k

but yeah what shifted said , home depot , lowes , ace hardware , sears

will all have that tap size , and look at the tap it will tell you the drill size you need also

make sure you flush and blow all the shavings out of the rail , and make sure you dont have any leaks

I don't know why GM even bothers using metric... no stores (even in Canada!) carry a large selection of metric hardware... so it's damn near impossible to find the right replacement hardware when you break hardware (heh heh.. bust a nut...)

Only thing we've got that's good.... the Robertson head screw.... way better than that Torx garbage

if you dont want to tap the fuel rail then you can use the -4 fitting on the fuel feed line.... you would need to convert the -4 to 1/8npt ....

the braided line on the fuel rail runs to a mechanical fuel pressure gauge.... just a thought... good luck.

yeah i agree the torx suck , but atleast they do share some size with alen's , so if you strip the torx part you still got a chance to get it off

Yea, I figured as much, but if someone else may stop by and read this and not really sure with the first pic is, the second link will help them.

If that is the wrong way to do busniess here. Well then.....

if you can get that adaptor piece , id set it up similar to this

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=160006795215&ih=006&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT

not really any need for the hose

or just drill and tap and put the sender in the fuel rail , which is how my 2.4 is done
