Making the most out of a trip to the Junk Yard
Saturday, July 01, 2006 2:57 PM
I am going to the junk yard on my next day off to get a few things.

I am going to look for the secret cams. I know i need the 95 intake cam b/c of the hex thing for the power steering. I also know the exhaust cam needs to be 90-94. But can they be any car that has the 2.3L in the forementioned years or just the Cavy?

I am also interested in neutrualizing the balancing shafts from JBP.com Since i would like to drive my car durring the couple weeks it takes for them to do it, can i just pick up some off any 96+ LD9 or does it have to be 2000-2002?

Last question is i did the HO mani swap but the T/B that came with it didn't make my computer happy. I even bouht new sensors but it didn't help. I have the 89-92 T/B and the NY J-bodies site says only use the 93+ one. Could that make a difference? Or should i just port out my stock LD9 T/B. I guess the question here is should i look for a 93+ one while i am at the yard. And does the 95 have the 56mm T/B cause if i find one for the intake cam it will probably have the T/B too.

I know there is a lot of questions here but please any help is gladly taken. I am just trying to get everything done with one trip while i have the help

From the sticky:

Secret Cam Sticky wrote:The exhaust cam is from a 1990-94 (only) 2.3L Quad 4 engine.. VIN D as well. Can be found in 90-94 Grand Am's, Olds Cutlass, Calais, Acheiva, and Buick Skylark.

93+ tb is ideal, since youo dont have to drill if you wanna use your stock sensors.

But you should have been OK with the 92-.
Well, the one's that have the metal nipple for CC anyway.
Not sure which one ya got.
I've used both no problem.

But yeah, at the yard grab everything.
Even another HO mani you can sell to me.

I will look for a HO mani if your willing to buy it from me. How much you willing to pay for it?

Yea i am not exactally sure why my T/B didn't work, probably cause i used the 92- sensors and my computer didnt like them. I am just wondering if the 4mm difference really matters that much.

No one know about the balancing shafts? I would think any set off the LD9 engine would work, I am just looking for a yay or nay from someone who knows more about the engines then i do. Thanks

Well the yard around here are $30 for the mani.
So not too much more than that.

Granted, I'll spot ya a couple bucks if you get a 93+ one.
That has the extra bolt hole for the tb bracket, and the fpr port between the front two runners.

I've only found one like that, but sold it some time ago.

so no one knows about the balancing shafts? The heads too, can i get any 96-02 LD9 head or does it have to be the 00-02.

Also what size is the 95 T/B? I know its the LO mani but is it the 56mm T/B as on the HO equiped cars?

Thanks

I got a HO mani off a 94 Grand Am.

Mastin you just want the Mani? Cause i can also give you the 92- T/B and i have an extra Phelonic addapter from Chris if you want that too.

My Costs:
T/B $26
Mani $16
Addapter $62

Total $104

If you want it all I will give it to you for $90 plus shipping.
