Hey guys!
First question: When honing the Ecotec's stock cylinders, is it required to have a deck plate, or torque plate, whatever it's called?
Second question: For the 7/16th's ARP head studs, should those just go right in with no re-tapping needed? I tried to hand thread one in there, and I'm not sure if it took in ok, cause I tried a standard head bolt in the same hole and it went in nice and easy the whole way down. I'd crank it down, but I'm worried about messing up the threads if I try it. Anyone try this yet?
And finally: The turbocharger oil return line... is that dimpled 45 degree angled spot on the exhaust side of the block the place where I should tap for the oil return? I know there was a post on this years ago, but I searched hard and couldn't find it. Yeah, I could tap the oil pan... but that spot on the block looks like it's meant for tapping into.
THANKS GUYS!!!
the oil drain back , yes it is that dimple
tq plate is the best way to bore any motor , honing is more of just cleaning up , boring its more important to have the plate honing you can get away with not using a tq plate , but if you had it bored then honing shoulda been done with the plate still on
the studs im not sure on
Thanks for the info cavie!
I didn't bore out the motor, I'm putting forged pistons in the stock bore, and I'm concerned about piston to wall clearance, and was hoping honing would take away just enough metal.
Anyone know about the studs!?!?!
