i tried to search it but all i came up with was 2.3 oil pump swaps but i want to know what exactly this is and what is the advantage of it? i have read that if you remove these balance shafts on the oil pump it is an advantage or kinda of a "mod" for the oil pump and they do this to the 2.4 ld9 but i never understood it. can someone explain thanks.

READ! you said you searched it, so read what you search, there are a million threads on here that say exactly what this swap does and why..

the 2.3L pump swap is basically getting rid of the crappy assed power robbing ballance shafts in the 2.4L Twin Cam engines, and upgrading to a better oiling system (pump out of the old Quad Four 2.3L's) less weight, less rotating mass, better oiling and a slight hp increase.

Removing the balance shafts does not give a huge performance increase, its only about 5-10hp at the most.
