I'm wondering, what engines can fit in a 03 Cavi? Not just the Eco, 2.4, ect., but other engines with lots of modifications. I work at a metal shop, and we've already done some moster garaging, and I'm sure we won't have trouble doing it again. I'm just wondering what all kinds of engines, dimensional wise, can fit in our cars. Anything, I-4, I-5, I-6, V6, or V8, Turbo, S/C, N/A.. anything. I know I'll have to change the ECU, tranny, mounts, re-arange alot, wiring, blah blah blah.. but I want to see what we can do, and I don't want to spend $3,000+ on a new engine and for it not to be able to fit inside my engine bay.
So basically, what can I put into my car and make it work?
I only have one more post this month, so I don't want questions why am I doing this (because it's my extreme project car), comments that it'll take so much money (which it won't for me), and that'll it take forever (summer break). I just want input leading me to the way of more monster garaging my car. So just to let you know, I probably won't answer any questions if yall ask, so just say whatever.
Thanks in advance.

when you beat someone in a civic people wine and make excuses
when you beat someone in a cavalier they pull over and check under thier hoods
a guy in red deer,AB has a blown 350 in one IIRC, it's red and has huge slick on the rear. you can put any engine into a J. If you do the work yourself, you might be able to keep it under the 3 k mark

all it takes is money to get it done

it's a 3.4 dohc not a 3400. So, lets see this 3.4 dohc (LQ1) beast of a cavi then!

Actually there is a 3400. One of our JBOI members just finished putting one from a Pontiac Aztec in one of his his 2nd Gen's recently. I've never seen one in a 3rd Gen but if Raven can put an L67 in his I see no reason a 3400 can't be done. Hell, I'm seriously thinking of trying it if I ever have the time and money to make it happen.
Personally, I'd like to see someone do a Northstar V8 conversion. It'd be a huge pain in the balls to make it work but hey, if you're gonna go, go big. But if you have the resources there really isn't anything that can't be put in a Cavalier. Some things just take more effort than we're willing to invest.

We swapped a 3.4L DOHC into Brad's (DoubleZ) car a year ago now. We just swapped it over to a 5-speed last weekend actually so either tranny and engine will fit. One sec I'll try to find a good pic.

I can't believe that I can't find a good pic of what the engine bay looks like right now. Point is the 3.4L DOHC does fit in the engine bay just fine. I would love to see someone do the northstar next and have been trying to convience people of it for a few years now. If anyone out there wants to be the first you know where to reach us.

Here are some better pics...
Anything can be done with enough money and I'm willing to bet that pretty much any engine can fit if you really want it to.

OMFG... That thing looks HUGE compared to the 3800. So, out of curiosity, what all did it take to put the 3.4 in?
those are some sweet pics raven, looks like a really good job,

Last post of the month.
I think I'm going to part out my ecotec parts, and buy a cheap honda shell and put in a nice engine in it. I'm sorry guys for leaving the domestic side and going imports, it's so much cheaper and easier to deal with, plus everyone in Houston is import crazy so I'll find better deals and more people that can help me tune in person. I won't be sure on my decesion until the first of the month, and if I do decide to part out my aftermarket and stock parts, I will let yall know. If anyone needs anything, PM me, bascially anything in my profile, I am willing to sell. And any stock parts if needed. But thanks guys, it's just too much hassle for me right now, I'm about to leave in a few weeks for a month and I just don't have the time or patience.
Anyways, PM me or let people know that I'm most likely going to part out. Final decesion early July.

i'd love to be the first w/ a northstar! if i had the time, money, and second car, i'd be at the garage slapping that beast in, instead of here at the office
