ok so i have a 2000 z24 cavy and my engine is knocking so im oging to by an engine with 21000miles on it and swap it out same engine tho the 2.4L ld9 i want to turbo it so wat should i do to the engine whne i turbo it ????????
Do you have money to spend on the new motor to build it up some? because now would be the time to do it, not when you're ready to install the turbo later. Then you'd have to pull the engine out again. Also, depends on what amount of boost you want to run on the turbo. I'm not a 2.4 guy, but i think it's safe to run like 8 psi on the stock internals, so if 8 psi is all you want to run, u may not need to change anything on the engine. It's also personal choice. I'd say if you already have the engine out, and you have the money to build it, do that. Put some eagle rods, and forged pistons in there. That should be good. And bore it out like .020 The cost to do the build is about $900 for the pistons and rods, and machining cost, depending on where you live, shouldn't be more then like $800 for their labor.
That's preparation to put the turbo in. To actually put the turbo in, I defer you to the 2.4 experts on that. I don't know anything about the 2.4 engine specifically relating to installing a turbo. I know it's going to be near the firewall, and because of that, there are space limitations, but i hear people make it fit. Good luck with the engine swap.
