Exhaust: custom vs kit

I drive a 96 sunfire gt. All I have done is intake and exhaust. When I first got the car, which was a gift from my then girlfriend, about three years ago I wanted something different after a couple weeks. She asked if I would keep it if I put a new exhaust on it. Of course. So I ordered a couple mufflers with tips from Toucan and had them installed. Since then I have had two and a half inch piping from the cat back and removed the resonator. Then I put a high flow cat on because of my factory cat going to crap. At the same time I had the guy extend the piping to where the downpipe ends. It was too raspy so I had another guy put a glass pack on. All in all I spent roughly $500. Looking at some kits they were running about the same, give or take. I enjoy the look of my exhaust and haven't seen anything like it. I am hoping to get some pics up soon. Anyway, back to the point. Has anyone seen a big difference in custom vs. kit?

Only real diff is you have more control over what components go in your custom exhaust then in a premade kit.

Also, costwise, customs tend to be more cost effective than a kit.

Although that can go either way.

Mine is custom. Kits tend to be more expensive for what you get I think. And with a custom you can remove a lot of the bends since kits typically get modeled after the stock exhaust, but with bigger pipe.

Go to the jegs website, my boss got his 2 1/4" ID for less than 150, and that included the resinator and the muffler. The main thing you need to worry about is welding it on yourself. Other than that, it should fit in the hangers perfectly.
