Valve Cover Gasket Help..What to DO!!!
Friday, May 19, 2006 5:00 PM
I am changing the valve cover on the ecotec engine.

1. Can I reuse the old gasket.
2. Do I use anything to held it down(permatex, etc)
3. Anything to watch our for?

I got the outer one off without any problems, but the inner ones for the spark plug area, 2 off them ripped...What do I do? Does anyone have a part #, or know if I can just "glue" it back together.

Does this even matter?

HELP JBO PLEASE!!!!!

well, I'll help you out here:

1. From what I was told after I had already bought a new one---yes you can reuse the old one

2. you don't have to use anything to hold it in, although it does make the spark plug gaskets easier to work with.

3. it is pretty straightforward, the spark plug gaskets can be tricky to get them to stay in when you turn the cover over to install it though.

Just call a dealer and they can get the valve cover gasket

Can I use high temp permatex for the inner round shaped gaskets?
