[2.2] Pacesetter header installation questions
Sunday, May 07, 2006 5:02 PM
2 specific questions in regards to the final bits of the install process

1) On the 95-97 2.2, there is a brace that runs from the tranny to the passenger side of the engine. This brace is slightly in the way of installing the downpipe. Is the brace needed? If so, how to circumvent the problem of it being in the way?

2) There is a water pipe that runs from the outlet (where the thermostat is) across the front of the engine, and looks like to somewhere in the back of the engine....

Anywho, with the Pacesetter having larger outlet pipes than stock, that pipe doesn't quite fit on the stud where it used to. I'd rather not have it loose and keep the clean install look...

Here's the deal with the coolant pipe...

The mounting bracket sits too high on the pipe, so when going to install it, the header gets in the way, and the mounting stud is currently on the lower left corner of the bracket, so it won't go any higher to clear the header

I know I have both nuts on the stud, I just did that to make sure the stud was all the way in and seated(in case that was the problem)

I may just say f-it. It's not going anywhere, but it will drive me nuts anytime I look under the hood...

I'm also considering a plan b -- grind off the mounting bracket and use a pipe clamp that is used for house construction... it has the mounting point closer to the pipe, so that may get it to clear the header.
