Intake leak hurting performance?
Thursday, May 04, 2006 5:17 PM
After doing the HO intake manifold swap and modifying my AEM WAI to fit I noticed that there was a high pitch psst sound coming from the intake rubber elbow on hard acceleration. Upon further inspection I did notice a small leak in the rubber that I didn't see before. I figured it wasn't a big problem but now my car does'nt seem to pull as hard as it did and I'm getting slightly worse gas mileage. Could a small leak like that really hurt performance?

Yup.

I would fix the rubber coupler though. I've heard of engines blowing on cars with broken intake air boots.
