Ok I'm sure you get this question all the time. I am new to the car world and all that, But i have looked all around the net and i'm having trouble finding a Short ram intake for a 2.2L 1997 chevy cav. everyone here has helped me so much and now I really need help. I'm about ready to make one my damn self, If i knew how. I guess my question is where can I find one? And are they easy to install?

thanks alot everyone...

You could try ebay, or you could do it the way I did it...

Of course, I have a 2000 cavy with the 2200 engine in it. But I found that a honda civic intake actually FITS onto my 2200 box. Your intake is a bit different, but I think it will work just as well.

The only issue I had was the air sensor hole was too small. So I just popped it out of there (It's just a rubber piece) and I used a drill to bore it out a little bit. After about 5 min's it was good to go.

All in all I can't complain, I think it was 20 bucks for the tube itself, and 30 for the cone filter.

Just go to E-bay and search for 97 cavalier intake and you will find tons of intakes for 40-60 dollars, that work just as well as a more pricey AEM. I would swap out the filter they give you for a nice K&N though.

i agree with sunfiren20. i juet got a cheap intake off ebay and put a k&n on it. that setup works great. an intake is just a baffle-less pipe with a filter on it. the filter is what really counts (k&n). unless you are concerned about looks, a cheap intake works just the same. some high dollar intakes can be prettier with annodized finishes. i just went the checker and got some blue metallic paint and it looks just fine.

Ok I've looked at a few of the web sites that were added to this post but i i'm still having problems. I have a 1997 Cav. 2.2 liter. But its not the escot.... I can find all sorts of 2.4 liter intakes and 2.2 escot intakes, but I'm still having problems finding a reg., 2.2 liter cold air intake. Will the 2.4 fit? or am i just dumb? Sorry again for the dumb question. I just really need some help.

i also got my Injen intake from Nopi. they're great to deal with too. I didn't know about turbotechracing.com until just now or i probly would have tried them too. i luv my injen intake tho. if you have the extra cash i would go for that IMO.

The 2.4 L is a z-24, which has DOHC, so no, the same short-ram intake won't fit the same way. I have a 2200 myself, and the best one I've been able to afford is the Weapon-R Dragon (but I hear that the Secret weapon is better). Two things to keep in mind--one, if you're running a short-ram, heat shield the tube and the filter. Second, a cold-air intake is better for the mid-range RPM gains.

I don't have any JBody experience with Injen but the Delta guys seem to love them.
