My friend watched me race a couple weeks ago, he said when I was nearing the top of my rpm band, a hella lot more exhaust came out of my right muffler. My exhaust is broken off into two pipes with a Y shaped pipe. To the point: With more exhaust coming out of the right muffler and travelling the longer path out, how does that affect me? I did notice when I put only the catback on (still dual) I had a ton more torque based on the butt dyno. Would that be because of the longer path, thus more back pressure?

Street Racing is your enemy. Unless of course it was on a track. But I'm sure you're friend can't see 1320' down the strip
I'm sure it's nothing. Being it isn't a 'true' dual, you'll have some kind of discrepancy with exahust gases getting out. It could also be that, at the Y, the more direct path for the gases is to go to the left (bringing it out the right).
Don't hold my word on that; but like stated, it's probably nothing to worry about.
It wasn't street racing. I go to an 1/8 mile track and you can stand along the sides and watch. It's not exactly the safest thing, but that's how this podunk track works.
That's what I was thinking. Would you guys think I'm getting more back pressure from the right muffler, if so, why doesn't it force just as much out of the left?

well air works in a simple way.
Air likes taking the path of least resistance and pressure resistance.
So..
if more air is coming out of the right. Something is causing there to be too much "blockage" by pressure in the left pipe.
I don't think it's anything major though. But don't quote me...
Backpressure is bogus. You want good exhaust flow (velocity) with good scavenging. Read the FAQ in the Library about it.
Ok, 1/8 mile is a bit different
nah it wont affect nothing, more exhaust goes through my left muffler where the factory muffler was... so dont worry about nothing man, its just teh way duals are set up with the Y pipe, since its not true dual there isnt asmuch going through both... at WOT tho they should both flow pretty close, idle would be more to the left...

Nothing to worry about at all. Now if he sees lots of white or blue colored smoke then you have an issue but its not with your exhaust.
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
you see it in some cars, sometimes, that actually are "true duals" as well... at least the ones with an H pipe...really nothing to worry about.
Mine did it stock, and with the catback, i think its just that there's more air to come out, thats all.
not another "you shouldnt street race" thread, let the man do wha he wants, its his choice, he asked about exhaust not opinions on street racing.
my exhaust is a Y pipe and i have even amounts coming out of each side it seems, never had a problem. my exhaust goes in the middle of the two tips so it evens it out that way as opposed to the stock jbody y pipe thats on the side and then goes over for the passengers side.
how can he see the exhaust? this baffles me.

LMAO read the first sentience again.
