Want lightened stock sized 2.4L LD9 Crank Pulley?
Wednesday, March 22, 2006 12:36 PM
I got in touch with customcargrills.com and asked if they'd make us a lightened stock sized crank pulley for the LD9.

Currently, the only one I know of is made by the thieves at RSM. If customcargrills.com would provide a viable alternative, we'd all benefit.

They replied saying that if there was an order for 10-15 of them, they may produce them but will need a stock one to make the new design from.

I don't have a stock one kicking around that I can send them so without that, this thing won't get off the ground.

If someone has one they could donate, then I'll start looking into running a GP to get these things made for us. I'm not sure if it will be returned or not but I'll find out. I'm hoping someone's got one off a dead engine or something that they have no use for.

If we can get past that hurdle, I'm sure there won't be an issue getting the 10-15 people on board to purchase one.

ive got several stock size 1's laying around , tell me where and who to send it to

depending on price for loaning or giving the stock 1 up , i might be interested in 1 for the race car

there was a company in canada that made a few along time ago , i forget who they are , but i think it was said 10 were made

ive actually got 1 , just havent put it on my cav yet

the 1 thingi will say needs to be done , there needs to be a metal sleve put on the snout , so that the ceal in the timing cover doesnt eat into the snout

i know my friends rsm crank pulley had a nice groove in it , and the pulley ive got has a steel or stailess piece on the snout

Excellent, Eric! When the time comes, I'll probably just get you to send it directly to them.

So that's one hurdle passed. I expect I'll hear from them again tomorrow with more details.

Can you describe what you mean about the metal sleeve, or even get some pics to show what you mean?

With finding a stock one not an issue, as soon as I get the pricing details from them I'll get a GP running so we can see if we can come up with the numbers.

I'm very interested in this...

I remember back in september or october someone on this board had plans for a college project was to build a full pully replacement set through the year, and then possibly make them available for sale... I haven't heard anything else on this, so I guess it went away.

WW, I for one would be interested in a full stock size pulley replacement kit, if that option is available, with enough interest of course

Is this still happening? His last post was in January and said he'd have something in a week.

He also starts off saying that the crank pulley will be underdriven and then later says it will be stock sized. It's pretty important to those of us with a blower that the pulley be stock sized.

i think us s/c guys had comvinced him into stock sized also

jason are they the 1's that made like 10 of them ?

I just changed out my factory pulley to RSMs factory sized tonight.
Didnt get the belt on yet, too dark.

For reference, by using the USPS postal weigher thing:
Factory 63.6 oz or 3 lb 15.6 oz.
RSM 21.6 oz. or 1lb 5.6 oz

So that's the specs for mine, and I"m in an auto.

I remember custom car grills way back when they were just grills.
I'd be down for a factory sized crank with color options.

But its gotta be at or less than 21.6 oz and $160

Meantime what are the torque specs for these things?
I think factory is some crazy high over 100 ft/lbs or some junk.
And these lighted ones sit more flush with the crank mount so I would think the torque specs would be a little less. Besides them being aluminum.

complete waste. most of the gain comes from the underdrive and having less mass fruther from the centre of rotation. ontop udp's already make next to no improvement.

WW - I suspect that by the lack of posts, that project has faded away, I was just throwing the idea of a pulley set out there to see if there was any interest.

Sorry to go a bit sideways on this thread

your not getting it

underdrive crank pullies dont work for everyone

people with alot of audio/visual equipment , that need the alt to turn faster at idle to keep the system voltage up

and us s/c guys cant use smaller crank pullies or we loose our boost
