I would like to know now that i have read some stuff from the org and other part. i want to know what size does the 97 z24s TB come with???
and to what size i can change it if i want more air flow???? my car is mild mod. (full exhaust and intake)
Also i want to change the TB but be able to use the same intake system (WAI short ram intake injen)
because jbp is selling the 60mm and 62mm but now that i read people put 59mm or 56mm (i think) i dont know which one will let me use my short ram intake and which size is better for my car.
thank you.
this is a separte question... im still a newb so i want to know what is ported? when they say Ported Intake Manifold what does that mean?
thank you for everything
I'm not sure of the stock sized throttle body (I think it's 53 or something like that) but even if you get a bigger one, you won't have any problems putting your intake on it because the bigger sized throttle bodies that are made for the 2.4s are just bored out versions of your stock one, so the physical throttle body isn't any bigger, just the inner diameter is bigger and it's fitted with a bigger plate.
The non JBP Throttle bodies that you see people putting on are probably the H.O. throttle bodies you're refering to.
Ported means that they did some type of porting to that part. Basically, they are making the inner portion of the part bigger by getting rid of excess material to allow more airflow to pass through.
You don't want to get too big of a throttle body cause that could shift your powerband slightly upwards because the lack of velocity.

here are the TB sizes for 3rd gens.
2.2L 52mm
2.4L 52mm
2.3L 56mm
Ecotec 2.2L 58mm
so what will it be a good size to put on my car between 56mm and 60mm???
just start with the 56 and see if you like what it does.
Hey LD9 Fury, Do you know if your tb would fit on an 01 2.4L? If so are you looking to sell it because I may be interested.
