When first breaking in the engine? Like I know the piston rings have to seat and stuff like that. Just wondering if anyone uses a certain one...

agreed. go 10w-40 for a bit. something nice and thick, maybe a synthtic blend.
...don't hate!.. respect people that have talent, even if it is in something you don't like or understand.
I've never heard of the heavier oil but I do know for a fact that your not suppost to use sythetic at first and i think its for the first couple oil changes.
New motors dont matter AFAIK. I doubt using Synthethic (Which is better oil) would hurt anything, especially with a newer motor (as in Late Model). I could be wrong, but I change oil for a living as well.
Yeah thats a mith to not use synthetic.
What if I told you my family has used synthetic since day 1 in new cars and we change the oil every 10,000miles?
We do, weve had engines into the 300,000s that didnt burn a drop!
when your braking in a motor u use 30 w oil hold at 2 grand or like 20 min. then switch to 10-30 oil so averthing get broke in [

yea i dont know either... maybe the regular oil provides a little bit more friction so things seat in well when synthetic offers much less friction...

thats what I would think.....

Friction is bad. End of story. Regardless of the myths, using synthetic for break-in is not bad. Just make sure that if you use synthetic at first, then you KEEP using it. If you start with a heaver oil, let everything get seated, then using a synthetic oil later will cause consumption.
I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.
synthetic is over-rated
just use regular oil and get on the beast
I would say start out with regular so the motor can break in faster. Then switch to synetic

I agree, with the 30 weight oil.
how about this, you listen to everyone, USE SYNTH, and tell us that she is burning oil, then I'll laugh ......................

this was sorta discussed in another thread last week. Guy rebuilds motor, throws in synthetic, car smokes and loses oil through tailpipe. Let the oil completely drain and he poured some heavy weight oil and stopped smoking and leaking.
Royal Purple oil is a waste of money....nuff said...
let us know what you do and how it works for you! I'm also not sure on that question since there is so much different opinion on that subject. The engine will be done mid april and would like to know how to break it in the right way since i wont have money to tear it all apart again to fix anything.
thanx
