need some help few question

well I have a few question , okay first off let me give you some info. I lose car 99 cavalier due to a fire were I was storing it at, now I have to rebuild the whole car again. My aunt have gave me her 96 cavalier, because she can not drive anymore. all the wrench time I did ( for the most part) myself. now my question is as follows

okay the cavalier is had gave me , is okay but I loved my 2200 motor over the 2.2 that is in there now. ( in the 96 )

1. I would like to change out the motor I was told by some of dealerships here that all I would need is the computer , wire for that motor ( and maybe some odds and ends stuff) that it was easy to change them out . so I wanted to see anyone here has done it. and what other problems did you have to over come.

2. will the 4 speed auto tran. fit the 95-97 2.2l motor??

me and my friend have done motor changes in car before and we are up for this

you and leave me a message here or email me at j_kozdron@verizon.net thanks for your help and time I will keep everyone up to date

I believe the fuel rail is different as well because the 95-97 OHV have side feed injectors while the 98+ 2200s have top feed injectors.

Only if the 4-speed is off an 95-97 OHV motor, otherwise I don't think it would be a direct fit (possibly different bellhousings but don't quote me on that just yet).

No, the 2.4 transmission will not bolt up to a 2.2.

The 99 engine should fit into the old chassis, and you can use most of the same wiring other than the injectors.

And as was said above, if you want a 4 speed, it must be one from a 95-2002 2.2 or 2200, the transmission from a 2.4 will NOT work.
