Cat Replacement / 02 Question
Sunday, February 26, 2006 2:13 AM
I purchased a full headerback system for my car back in september, consisting of a pacesetter ceramic 4-1, magnaflow cat 2.25" ( 75$ on gravanas site ) and a magnaflow single exhaust. After about month or so, the front o2 went, had it replaced, then in december, the rear o2 said that the cat was clogged, now i purchased another cat, but my question is should i replace the 02 sensor in the cat also, also one of the codes is that the front o2 is responding slowly, is this from the problem with the cat, and should i replace this sensor also? id rather not since i purchased it not too long ago, but if it is getting messed up by the current problem then i might as well, If it matters, I did bosch OEM replacement, for the front and will be doing the same for the rear.

I hear Bosch isn't that great for our cars.

just to be on the safe side, I'd replace it. Just for the peace of mind

Did you lengthen the wires on the upstream 02 sensor?

Is your car smoking white even after it's warm? (assuming the temps are not sub 32*F) If so you might have a head leak that is letting coolant into the combustion chamber... that stuff destroys O2 sensors fast...

Knowledge about everything and yet an expert of nothing!!
Jack of all trades.

Yeah, im going to replace it for piece of mind too, no, the reason i think the 02 up front is bad is because, the cat is getting clogged/ is clogged/ and the backed up gasses or pressure is messing up the front one, it doesnt smoke after warm, and yes I lengthened the front wires. It smells like sulfur in the exhaust which leads me to belive that the reading is correct on the cat being clogged also.
