Would it be possible to hollow out the catalytic converter (for off road use only) on a cav? I believe this might cause problems with the O2 sensor. Is there a way around this to keep a/f mixture correct?
Get an high flow cat instead of doing that. A magnaflow (if you take the correct one) won't throw codes and the sensor after the cat have nothing to do with the a/f, it's just there to watch how the cat is working!!
How much are we taking for one of these? I'm not looking to spend alot of cash on this.
around 69-75$, you could probably find it cheaper by looking at different places..
if your going to hollow it out anyways why not just make a test pipe? some people amaze me with time wasting thoughts.
I used to race cars, now I race myself.

if you go on ebay you can get a magnaflow cat for 56 bucks shipped
The turbulence caused by a hollowed out cat, would probably cause a loss in power. Personally, I wouldn't waste my time with removing and gutting the cat. It will throw a cell code if it is gutted. (It does with a test pipe, so it would be the same amount of hydrocarbons passed to the second o2 sensor) I'm assuming you already have a cat back exhaust. (because your profile is not filled out) A high flow cat, would yield just as much flow as a test pipe. You can pick one up for under $75.00 so it's not expensive at all.
a high flow cat seems to be the way to go then as the cost is not nearly as bad as I would have thought. The only reason for keeping the cat on gutted out and not replacing it with a test pipe was for apperance. They check for a cat when doing certaing.
people underestimate cats nowadays. quality highflows flow JUST like a test pipe. so like..................NO DIFFERENCE! plus, they have advantages if N/A ----- (take note of that) they help with low end torque due to scavaging and they help to deepin exhaust tone. so just buy a high flow and forget about the thing.
I did it and noticed an INCREASE in power, plus I get better gas mileage
Some times the best way to get that tailgater off your but is to light a fart.
i would just get a high flow cat because i think catalytic converters are an amzing invention, cleanin up our air and such
Not worth it, won't make you any faster, will throw codes, is a pain in the as to do, a hi flow cat is cheep enough. Do I need to continue?
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
Yeah, by using lead

Heres what i did. I took my cat and pounded out all the crap inside then stuck a 2 1/2 inch piece of pipe thru the middle so it still looks like a cat. No turbulance problems no nothing just something that will fake the police out and anyone else that wants to question you haveing a cat or not.

Anyone have a part # from Magnaflow. Went to their website and could not get a highflow cat to come up under chevy cavs. Or, if anyone has a link to this product. Anther question...My stock cat bolts on and off, is the magnaflow a bolt on replacement or will there be welding required? Thanks to all who can help.
94035 is the part number you want.
...don't hate!.. respect people that have talent, even if it is in something you don't like or understand.
You people are retarded. The cat's there for a reason.
