im still in need of help here, if i were to drill and tap my coolant reservoir lower down, and screw in the temperature sensor from my water temp gauge would this give me a good coolant temp reading? or is there another spot i could use,

as well as is the temp of the coolant inside the reservoir going to be near the coolant temp flowing in the engine?

No, coolant does not circulate in the resivour.

You need to tap it either on the block, or t off the existing sensor.

Shifted, he can also tap a hose, he just needs a piece of pipe that will fit snug in the ID of a main radator hose. All you do is drill a hole in the pipe section, just enough to fit your sensor, Put sensor in, seal top section so it doesnt leak, and place inside a hose of your choice.

Granted its the getto way to do it, but it does work.

why not put it in the back of the block. There's already a tap in the block you can use for your coolant sensor.

The one that says water is in fact a water passage. Its exactly where I have my water temp. sending unit installed. Just a bitch to get at. The metal line that runs across the back of the block interferes with taking the plug out. But it can be done...

its 1/4" plug, you need a 1/4" hex to get the plug out. I did mine with my exhaust on, wasn't hard at all.
