hey everyone, i just recently got this in from the GP, great service, price, everything by the way, thank you again Aaron for that.
the reason this thread is here is because i cant get the thing installed. Midas, and another couple shops i've called want nothing to do with a header, and my uncle's buddy who's a mechanic doesnt want to do it either. i have really no performance shops around here. I myself have only little mechanical ability.
I am frustrated, because i'm looking at my investment sitting in my living room rather than making horsepower in my car. One of my friends put a header on his 99 prelude, so he may be helpful. Where/how did everyone get their headers installed? Is this something i might be able to attempt myself? What should someone in my position do?
thanks again everyone who has any answers, anything you can give me
Where do you live ?

hey man, this
this might help you out with your install. I'll be doing it this weekend too.
hey, thanks alot, it looks pretty much like me and my honda buddy will be doing this in an upcoming weekend, as it will be snowing here saturday. if you have any tips on what you did/things to look out for/things to definately do...etc. please feel free to post.
i also heard today, that if you touch the header with your bare hands, leaving any oil on the header it will turn purple when heated up? is this true? or should my armor coated avoid this problem?
you guys are helpful as always, i really appreciate it. thanks again, chris, jackalope, and anyone else who can help me out.
The installation of the header is really easy. You remove the old one, and do like they said, you temporary clamp it to the exhaust and get the car to a shop and have this thing welded. This is what I did, except that I installed the header and the high flow cat, the shop just removed the tubing and weld all this together.. Pretty sure that you'll be happy with those 2 things!!!
thanks for the advice, i think that is what im gonna end up doing. just a quick question im sure someone will easily be able to answer:
what is the best way to get the stock header off? just unbolt the manifold from the back of the motor? i was looking through some one else's install pictures, and it looks like there is a collector, that bolted up to the stock manifold? is that correct?
thanks again everyone, i appreciate all your help.
hey, i apologize for being selfish, i completely forgot to ask you how you liked it? were you able to feel a difference with the header and high-flow installed? thanks again
you unbolt the collector and then the exhaust manifold, when I get the header down there I let the plastic over it just to make sure I didn't make any scratches on it (I know.......) Yes I feel the difference, some say it's minor but each car is different. I'm not disapointed by the money I spent...
WHOE ! Too far never mind ! Sorry good luck. Are there any speed shops in your area?

I took mine to my dealership...all the performance shops around me are mostly for imports, f'in Hondas! And the others would charge an arm and a leg.
Hell, Midas told me that unequal diameter pipes in my exhaust won't hurt performance. (After the cat and before my resonator...still stock pipe with the O2 sensor)
hah, yeah, im gonna try one more place, and if they dont want to know anything about it. im just gonna do it myself. i will probably get more satisfaction if i do it myself anyways. if anyone has any experience or advice they would like to share, i would be very grateful.
oh, will i have any problems with moving the dipstick? or is that just on the pre-ecotec maybe where the exhaust manifold was in the front? thanks again everyone, i appreciate all your advice.
I did my header install my self. I did need a friend to help hold things while I put the ball joint together though...
that purple hand print thing is BS. I have the same header as you and didn't use gloves when I touched the thing.
Also, when you cur through your stock exhaust pipe... USE A SAWZA!!!! I used a hacksaw and it took me almost 2 hours to cut through the damn thing and I was sore as hell the next day...
