ok, i'm rebuilting my ld9 soon and was wondering if i should go with these or just stick with the one that comes with the wiseco pistons set.
and if they are worth it, where is a good place to buy them, i know jbp carry them, but i slao know that jbp a way too pricey. there is probably a place cheaper somewhere else.
thanx...
they were discussing this in another thread a couple weeks back as to whether total seal rings are worth it or not.
A few people have said they have had good luck with their rings and have never had a problem. Others suggest that total seal rings are probably best for applications in which the engine is being torn apart often and getting replaced often.
I am not going to waste my time with them, but generally when you order pistons, they come with the manufacturers rings which are obviously designed to be used with your custom pistons.
just my .02
Yeah a lot of times you will order the pistons and rings together. I went with a set of Wiseco forged pistons with a set of total seal gapless rings, They came together, when you order the pistons you can get the rings as well, I got them through JBP when they built my crazy monster engine
I had them before. It all depends on what you plan to do with the car. Daily driver? Not so worth it. Goes to the track all the time? Yeah you may want to consider them.
But they are not a must have part.
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
hmmmm...... i dunno! it is a daily driver but it will also see the track often.
I'm builting a N/A car. 2.4 bottom and 2.3 top end with 10.5 c/r!
so is there any other palce than jbp that sell these?
thanx!
Then I'd say not worth it to you. Think if it as your trying to get that last tenth of a second.

yeah, maybe your right.
it all depends on whats the price. i know jbp is overpricing....

yeah, if i dont get these, i'll just stick with the one that comes with my wiseco pistons.
thanx!
No problem.

I use them in every engine I build or have built because they will keep more cylinder pressure longer (milage wise) than standard rings therefore the total seal equipped engine will make more power for a longer time than standard rings.
2000 Z24 5spd header & catback for now.
so..... where do i get them and how much???
thanx
If you can get the pn from JBP ( don't know how easy that'll be) any distributor who sells Total Seal products can get the rings for you. I know Jeg's or Summit probably carry total Seal stuff check with them. Or see if you can get the rings from Wiesco when you get the pistons.

Ive actually heard that they can possible wear down faster than OEM rings for some reason.....
