hey as most of you know my engines at the machine shop getting built and im doing the 2.3 pump swap also and was wondering when you guys did your 2.3 pump swap in the LD9 was there a noticeable gain on the street and or track because of this mod or did it just barely give you gains. i know its like 12lbs or so off the rotating assem and the pump it self (removing balance shafts) is like 5 or so hp so total hp from this mod should be 18ish according to the ny-jbodies writeup. im in a 4 speed auto as well obviously.

I really couldn't tell you what the HP gain was but the main reason for doing it (as far as I'm concerned) was better oiling.
I did all my stuff at the same time. Bored .020,dropped comp. to 9:1,forged pistons and rods,P&P head, cam swap, oil pump swap, blah, blah, blah, and went from a best of 178 hp @ the ground (6psi) to a best of 216.3.

i gotta 35 shot im dynoing first after the rebuild and then trying the 50 shot, hopefully i can reach about 230whp (50 shot) then ill upgrade the boost to 9-10 psi and hope for over 250 with a tune
my estimate of numbers are wong above, oops
well im doing it for both reasons, free up some hp and better oiling system

exactly. it's more of a precaution than anything.
Blew it up
