Anyone use/heard about this?

I am looking into upgrading my ignition system on my 2002 Cavalier with the 2200. I was looking through summit and found the MSD 5 Ignition, PN 5200. It is designed to work with an engine with basic mods...was wondering if anyone has any opinions on it?

"not for use with distributorless ignitions"
you need a dis-II system

Yeah get the DIS-II, the new coil packs and the pack interface modules and you'll be good, unless you want to go boosted someday, then it might be benificial to get the DIS-II with boost retard.

How does MSD's DIS-II compare to AEM's ???

There's nothing to compare...AEM doesn't make a piggyback ignition system, only a full standalone, which gives you complete control over ignition and fuel, for 4x or so the price (look into a megasquirt if this is what you want to do). The MSD only allows you to adjust ignition timing, although it also magnifies your spark output.

Whats the difference between the DIS-II plus p/n 62112 and the programmable
DIS-II p/n 6212???

honestly, I wouldn't even bother until you either have boost or more than a 75 shot. you may feel a little faster however you timslips may not change
