hey everybody, i was wondering if anyone can help me with what mods i should go with to beat a v6 3.8 camaro. the car is a auto too, so will that help me in anyway? i have a 01 2.4 cav, with a 5 speed trany. so try and help me ppl!!

Wrong, Depending on those options on the camaro some have ran high 14's from the factory and mid 14's for the manuals. I had a 97 camaro v6 auto with the crappy 3.08 gears and open diff and ran 15.9 stock but some are much quicker. I have been a member at www.camarov6.com for about 4 years now, check it out

Probaly not like I said, they have many different packages with different items in them. If he has a A4 Y87 with the 3.42/lsd rear he is going to kill you.

The Y87 code should be on the door along with GU6 for the 3.42's and G80 for the LSD. If it says GU4, then it has the 3.08's and it will be a drivers race. The camaro has a power to weight ratio of 17 you have a power to weight of 18.6. Using 3400lbs/200bhp vs 2800lbs/150bhp. Give or take 100lbs or so.

Don't mod your car specifically to try and beat a person that annoys you. Mod it, or don't mod it, so you're happy with it. You're going to spend money on things that may not be worth it later.

LOL why would someone that owns a v6 camaro talk smack? That is just asking for trouble.
He's immature. let it go.
Only way to beat a camaro of that nature would be to either:
1. have the 2.3 engine with like every mod, stripped weight, etc..
2. have the 2.4 or a 2.2 ecotec with every mod and then some, stripped weight, etc..
3. Turbocharge either of these motors.
But to get to the level where you can beat a car with two more cylinders is going to cost you thousands of dollars no matter how you do it. And for the equivalent amount of money you could buy yourself an old camaro or mustang and start fixing that up and have more power and flexibility to begin with.
Let's face it, the cavalier, z24 or not, is not a race car. Maybe with a good 3 or 4 grand you could squeeze 200 horses out of it but a nice v6 puts that out already. If you seriously want to race i'd reccomend buying a car worthy of it. Until then, be happy that you can burn most 4 cylinder cars, mods or not!
I don't know, but making all those kids with euro lights on their civic EX's cry gives me a glee like none other. And all i have is the lowly 2200 sfi. hehe.

With some kind of forced induction or n2o you would be able to beat him but if he were to do the same things to his it would still be faster. Lets say you put the gm charger on your car and run mid-high 14's with then he puts an intake, full exhaust and better gears he would still be just as quick. You can beat him but it won't be stock for stock.

Timeslips I haven't had my camaro in 1.5 years, I was number 14 and now I'm still 17th. The first 44 cars of 130 are the 14's and number 130 was a stock 98 camaro a4 with 3.08's/open diff running a 16.3@85. Thats the slowest I have ever seen and probaly over half of the org with 2.4's and eco's run around there stock, some have been a lot better and some a lot worse. Like I said it will be a drivers race depending on what he done.

i beat my friends camaro it has a manual tranny but its like a 2000 though dk if they were slower or somthing but i take him pretty easy by about a car, i have an ecotec though. i think theres a vid on streetfire of an ecotec cav beating a v6 camaro pretty bad and he just had an intake and exhaust.
