What would I have do to do to put a 2002 2.4l engine into my 98 cavalier. I do believe a few things need to be changed but not sure what they are. Could someone please help me with this.

Thank you very much.

Take a look in the 3rd gen forum. Ill list some off the top of my head that youll need.

Motor(Im sure you knew)
Tranny(Im sure you knew)
engine wiring harness.(Im sure you knew)

These are the two things that im not sure of that I THINK you need.(PLEASE correct me if im wrong about these)

1. Im not sure if the master cylinder needs to be changed or not. Their different but not sure if you need to swap them.
2.I BELIEVE the fuel tank you'll need as well from the 2k car. One is plastic, and one is metal(not sure which is which)

Like I said, you'll find more info in the 3rd gen forum.

Hope that helps.

I forgot to mention my 98 cav was a 2.4l also.
Will the izuzi 5speed tranny work for 00+ 2.4l?

If you are just swapping the engine you don't need the wiring harness or tranny.

tranny with bolt on and you will have to redrill for the knocksenor. Other than that the engine is basically the same.
Unless you are trying to do a 2000 swap you don't need anything other than the engine. We are replacing a 2001 in a 99 and all i got was the engine. That is all we need. I am keeping my tranny etc..
Rember these engines are the same.

I don't have an EGR so you may want to talk to someone about the EGR. It may bolt up but i am not sure. Mine doesn't have an EGR so i don't have to deal with that.

My engine is coming from a Grand AM. I have heard some people say that their 2.4 from 2000 feels stronger than their 95-99 2.4 Engine. That may be a just people whoes car drove like dodo before they had to replace it, so any new engine would have felt better.

Would I need to swap to a 99 PCM if I were to use injectors from a pre 99 engine?

I am a body guy and dont know to much about the engine yet (still learning so bear with me)

thanks for any help
