quick tb help

wondering if somoene can help me. im porting mine at my shop this week and i wanna grab some quick info. first off for a stock 2.4, i heard i can take it to 62 mm max. want some confirmation on this before i start to open it up. also on getting the shaft off, do i just undo the butterfly and slide it out? now before i measure everything whats the clearance between the plate and the wall? looks fairly tight but im assuming there must be a little gap in there other wise it might have problems opening and closing.

think thats it for now

well we got it apart today, figured out that to get max size out of it we need to bore it out at a slight angle, now onto the butterfly.

oh and does anyone know what the little teeth on the butterfly are for? theyre covered by shaft and sit o nthe ends. they kinda look like little notches

You can take the stock tb out to 56-57 before you bore through the wall. If you want as much as 59mm, you have to offset the bore, and you'll still break through at the vacuum signal hole, but that can be fixed. The best thing for you to do, especially if you want to go out to 62mm, is just sleeve it. As far as the "teeth" on the plate, the only purpose there is to make it easier to slide in and out of the shaft. Just put little flat spots on the new blade in the same spots to help it out. Don't make the flats extend past where the shaft covers though. If you can see any daylight past the blade when you're done, it won't run right. Also, the wall thickness by the shaft bearings is pretty thin too, it'll break through at anything over 56 mm. My advise is to just sleeve it and do it right.
