what parts from a W41 are useful on other engines? manifold, computer?? theres an oldsmobile acheiva with the W41 at my local junkyard with the engine and tranny, just wondering what parts may be useful, im not sure if the motor works...if it does i may buy the engine and tranny and save it for a project im gonna be starting soon, but if the engine is no good i may take some parts off and use them on another engine

cams and computer are the only difference between it and the HO
the trans is good thing to have also , close ratio 5spd good trans for a quad

if the engine is good take the whole thing..if not get the head,cams,injectors,pcm,and BOTH manifolds..and that tranny is a very good find as well.

get the VIN and ask your parts guy at the dealership. That's the real way.

or if you have the axle out you can look at it...if theres a bar going down the middle inside of it its not it..if no bar then its got LSD

well, not so lucky yet...i still need to go back with a truck and about 180 bucks to buy the engine and tranny, but in the meantime i cut the hood release cable, usually noone will mess with a car if they can't open the hood, plus the early 90's chevy section is usually pretty void of people, so hopefully noone will grab it from me
still don't know what the hell im gonna do with it...i'll find something to put it in

if your putting it in a Jbody you wont need the axles..our axles fit that tranny fine...now,if your gonna put it in a go cart its a whole differnt ball game

yeah its most likely not going into a J unless i find a convertable for cheap....its looking like im either gonna make a super light racecar for autocross or a fiero project car, because convertable J's are rare where i live. i think the hp of the W41 and the tranny would be very nice in a racecar dedicated to autocross

I think if the car doesnt have A/C then it has the LSD And in that case, the ones with no A/C and the LSD are rare, i think like 1-2 in each color (5-6 total).

it was funny at the junkyard, me and my bro were looking at cavy's and i see this olds acheiva, and say "holy s**t" my brother is obviously confused at why im so excited over an olds aceiva, and had no clue what a W41 is. when i explained it to him, he was excited too

oh yea..... nice find. A buddy and I found a Cutlass 442 in a local yard....... never had a chance to pull much from it (got the intake, t/b, and head off of it, cams were gone, as well as the IDI cover)
I did just find a '94 HO Grand Am..... not as rare a find, but still has some nice parts (175hp HO, and internal Slave trans)

its either a 92 or 94 acheiva Scx, cant recall the year off the top of my head, it had 130k miles and the engine and tranny look decent (the car is in the yard due to a massive rear end collision) they look as if theyve seen 130k miles, but thats it, no abnormal wear and tear
