it comes down to this... do you want more than 250 hp? than the eco is going to be the more reliable/easier way to go. 250 hp is enough for 12 second 1/4 mile times and a built and turboed OHV can handle 250-280 hp pretty well. Swapping to the eco will cost anywhere from $1500-$2500, which you could easily use that money to build up the motor you have.

And Shaun, if i'm not mistaken, you yourself were asking these exact same questions not too long ago, and I helped you didn't I? No need to be such a jerk, although your point IS valid.

The OHV vs ______ engine debate has been covered at length. It all comes down to what you want the car to do. 200 hp? A stock OHV with a turbo will handle this no problem, and for the cost of the eco swap you can build a turbo kit instead. 250 hp? Even if you swap to eco you still need to turbo it afterwards and that will amount to around $5000 in the swap and turbo. You'll spend about the same, but probably a little less, to build the OHV with forged rods and pistons and a ported head, and then turbo it. Once you start getting on to 280-300 hp is where the eco makes more sense because thats where the OHV starts having some issues that just don't have economical solutions yet, at least from what I've seen. But 300whp is still enough where the eco needs stronger rods for safety, and why replac rods without replacing the pistons at the same time? so in the end you'll spend well over $6k to swap a built ecotec and turbo it, for which you could literally buy a low-mile j-body.

So examine what you'd like to do, then make your decision.

go all out build a custom subframe and drop in a 3.8 s/c.

But from what i read along time ago, about someone doing the 3.8 s/c swap he had to remove the a/c and in texas there is no way i am going without a/c. But i have thought of that before, but into a fiero

If you don't like posting. Leave. @!#$s like you really don't need to be answering these questions.

If you can't say anything nice and all that stuff. Just tell them that they should search and maybe point them in the right direction. Why do you waste our time posting your bitchfest? Get over with, questions like this get asked over and over again. Stop complaining.

Midnight Ride. he's right, try and do a little research first, the question comes up. I know the posts are out there.

I'm a supporter of the 3800 swap... but I'd pay someone to do it.
