HO an LO intakes

can someone tell me how to tell the difference between a LO and an HO intake
(does it say HO on the engine?) also is there a list of cars and years that came with the HO intake

the plenum of the HO is larger.

the other way is to look on the back for the numbers

I can't quite remember the numbers at the moment.. URweak knows all of his stuff though. hopefully he'll post.

if you have the car in front of you the 8th letter in the VIN will be an A ...look for 89-94 grand ams, beretta GTZ's,achieva SCX, and olds calais...theyll come with HO quads...other than that the only way to tell the differnce is the number like he said(which i dont know) or to look at it from the front..looking at it from the top will not help at all..from the front you will notice how much larger it is..thats about the only way i can describe it...look around on here and search..there were some pics posted showing the difference side by side

Well, the HO intake will usually be hooked up to a head, and on that head will be an IDI cover. The IDI cover will say Quad 4 HIGH OUTPUT. That's a first sign. The HO plenum is larger. And if it isn't on any of the models listed above, it probably isn't.

OK, is there any real difference between the lo and ho manifold as far as performance?

the ho achieved most power gains above the lo from the cams...the reason i ask is because i have a lo grinded down, blasted and ready for powder coat. will there be any real difference between the ho and lo as far as power gains.

what is so bad about LO? why is HO so much more popular?
LO low end torque? and HO high end????
Re: HO an LO intakes
Wednesday, February 08, 2006 6:32 AM
oookkk...LO= Low Output HO = High Output
theyre refering to types of quad engines....they want the manifold off of the HO engine because it made around 30 more hp than the LO version and one of the reasons it did is because of larger manifolds
....you might learn more about it if you do a search for it though

I just got my HO manifold in today! Is it HO? #24570433? kinda looks like it, but I wanna make sure. The only thing is it doesnt have that hole to the upper left (Lick pic).... is that a sigh?

now im just guessing but we wont get 30hp gain if we attatch this to our 2.4 will we?
