RSM TB and Intake
Saturday, December 10, 2005 9:34 AM
Does anybody know if it is worth spending $500 on the RSM bored TB and matchin intake. Some people have said that they have had problems intsalling it. I also read that some people tried to match the TB with another intake to lessen the cost and ended up getting the TB pully stuck open on the end of the other intake. Anyone know about RSM? Good? Bad? worth the money?

Personaly, I don't think its worth the money. I do not have it so this is just from what I have read and the problems that come with it.

I have the rsm 62mm throttle body and intake manifold.I have not had 1 single problem with it.It gave me a nice gain on the top end.

Whats up with that opening on the side of it?It looks to me like it will restrict air flow.

This is my throttle body:

Have you been boosted the whole time you had the package or we you n/a when you got it? Is the other side of you tb the same size? I thought rsm would have a closer tolerance than 1.47 mm.

Cool.

That 70+ is not for anything most of us are doing here.

I got the intake, TB, and manifold from RSM a long time ago, and although the whole setup was nice, I'm a lot smarter these days, and if I had it to do all over again I would never have got the intake. When I installed these parts, I did them all one-by-one so I could see how each of them acted and what gains they provided.

I already had an "eBay" intake and replaced it with the RSM intake. Big mistake. No difference.

The throttle body was actually pretty amazing. I dunno if it was the "instant 10+ HP" they advertised, but I think that it was a great choice.

It's hard to tell if the manifold was any better. The car felt a little more "touchy" like the response was better overall. But as to whether of not it made enough of a difference to justify the price, probably not.

okay ..... I'm going to be completely honest with you guys ...

I @!#$ HATE RSM RACING AND EVERYTHING THEY STAND FOR I REALLY DO ....

but....

this is a LARGE but....

I purchased the 62mm tb and there 8 oz. crank pulley..... went to the track and an INSTANT .5 of a sec was taken off... INSTANTLY and CONSISTANTLY.

then I got the ported intake manifold............

saw another .2 gain on my time.

BASELINE DYNO (note baseline included tranny mounts, and lower engine mount)

ONLY MODS DURING THIS PULL (in addition to base pull): 62mm TB and WAI.

I definitely believe that !!!!...... my car HAULED ass after the pulley, bbtb and intake manifold......

it was like going out and getting a full exhaust from the header back ....

it felt like that much of a gain .... I was consistantly hitting
16.6 - 16.7
I dropped down to a
16.0 - 16.2 consistantly...

I was VERY IMPRESSED...

so to answer your question finally ... IT IS DEFINITELY WORTH IT
