I am looking at picking up a decent resonator for my fire. I was looking at the dynomax thrush glasspacks. They seem good, but I also noticed that flowtech makes a purple hornies resonator. That one has a louvered core, and I remember event saying to only get a perforated core resonator. How come this is so?
because the louvered ones will restrict air flow a bit I believe, where as the preforated ones are just like a straight through muffler.

The only difference that I notice between magnaflow's and dynomax is that magnaflow is stainless and they cost 50-60 bucks. Many people have the dynomax and say they love it, and its much cheaper.

$27.88 for mine, but I got the 2 1/4" X 35" one. Good flow and solidly built.
I doubt it will fit the 2.4L TC or the Ecotec, unless you remove the cat. Just not enough room with the engines that have the exhaust on the back side of the head. I had to move the cat forward about 8" to get it to fit.

real simple.
a louvered core is like a cheese grater...
perforated core is almost like straight pipe.
which would be easier to pull over your arm.... simply imagine your arm as the exhaust gas and tell us what would be more hindering on putting something through?
so far i;ve seen a 46 inch fit on a dual cammed cavalier, simply moved the cat forward... not really an issue for a competent shop

i have both and dynomax doesnt have nearly as much sound absorbing material as magnaflow does...
also the guage thickness of the metal is less with dynamax....
in a nutshell, you do get what you pay for, but the length of a dynomax can make up for it on these cars....
a magnaflow you can install on a v-8 truck and do well, a dynomax of the same size would struggle.
definately a difference in price, small part on the name, but a LARGE part on the construction.
