i currently have a 98 2200 ohv with 4 speed auto. im lookin for a 2.4 for it, but im wondering if it has to be out of a 98. i know that it should be straight forward if i keep the years the same, but if i say get a new 2.4 would there be any surprised that id encounter? thanx
it shouldnt matter what year, cause you will have to get the ecu for any of them.
10.5 second 1/8mile
est hp=130
est tq=135
ok, so say i find a donor car. it should just be a matter of pullin the motor with the wiring harness to the firwall and the ecu? thats it? could i use my current tranny, or should i use the one with the new motor? and are the mounts the same?
can anyone give me some info?
All you need is to make sure you get he correct generation 98-02 i believe
2002 Cavalier ECOTEC 5SP (14.2s @ 35C)
as long as you run that year PCM you will be just fine.
I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.
If you want to plug-and-play it (as you mention, just the engine bay harness) you should stick with similar years... in your case, 96 to 98 2.4L's.
99+ 2.4L's have some minor changes... not hard to swap in, but not "plug and play". You'd have to make some wiring changes. Even more so if you use a 2000 PCM... there's a LOT that changed in the pins between 99 and 00.
