I've got a motor on the way with the computer and wiring harness. I've got a 2002 Jbody with a 2.2L and the 5sp getrag, so what i need to know if what else i should consider or need to know, i know i will need to find a 2.4L tranny 5sp, i assume my interior tranny @!#$, clutch and and shifter will work with the 2.4L tranny? Is there anything else i need to know? I will need the motor mouts for the 2.4L aswell? Anything will help me in my quest.
Thanks Alot Zakre

The lower motor mount is the same, not sure if the upper mount is though.
Also, find out what year the 2.4 motor is because it would need the transmission from that time period (1996-99 had the Isuzu Manual Transmissions, 2000+ have the Getrag Manual Transmissions). You would also need the shifter cables, shifter and clutch resevoir.

Ok so i need a 2000+ getrag tranny , but i assume none of the stuff from my curret car will work (2002 2.2L 5sp) as they wont work with the new tranny?

If you have an 00-02 then you already have the Getrag Muncie that bolts up to 2K+ LN2's and LD9's so you are golden. Happy swapping!

You'll need the LD9 PCM for the 5-spd, as well as the harness from the PCM to the firewall. The overall engine harness is the same though.

I was under the impression that the bellhousing was different between the LD9 and the LN2. Please correct me if I'm wrong here.
But in any case.. the gearing IS different between 2.2 and 2.4L. Easier to swap the trans than to pull it apart and swap them.
Also, the engine wiring may be the same, but the transmission isn't. There's one BIG plug (to the transmission) and one small one (VSS) on a 2.4L auto... but only two small plugs (reverse light and VSS) on the 5 speed. You're lucky you already have a 5 speed, in that you don't need to modify (or replace) the dash harness...
Plus the trans mounts are in the right place already.... lucky bum

So you're saying that it my new 2.4L wont bolt up to my 5sp tranny, and i still need to find a 5sp tranny to fit the LD9, also i will need a manual car PCM et harness from a 2.4L Manual car then too?
Thanks!

He is right, I do believe the bell housings are different actually. You shouldn't have any problem getting your hands on one though. http://www.car-part.com

Ok So now if i understand correctly i can use my existing tranny, but i need to get the correct bell housing for it, but if the gearing is wrong too should i just look into finding a 5sp tranny out of a 2.4L car?
