Yes, there is! See
this post about 2/3rds down page 2(July 11). HotRodV6 asks about a better timing set and the discussion coninues from there, including part numbers and instructions from GM.
NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thats alot of info and very hard to find out where and how to get the parts and make them work....
NEW THREAD ON THIS PLEASE
if you go to your local parts store have them look up or cross referance Cloyes Part Number C3060
That will get you the 1.8L double roller chain and the crank and cam gears.
But like said in the other thread its not a direct bolt on, but only minor work is needed.

Yeah, make sure to download the GM directions from (I think) PJ's server (link in 1.7:1 roller rocker thread).
Also, the NAPA and advanced auto sets have been proven correct, but the AA set comes with the tensioner (if you want to call it that). Something that didn't apply when GM wrote the directions, but will have to be done with the newer engines is machining the cam gear's mounting hole out a bit (not a big deal, just make sure to have it done while you're at the shop
.

and i plan on it
what is the part number for advanced auto parts?
I just realized....
Will the timing marks on the gears match like the ones on the 2200?
Do we need to use the sprockets from the 1.8L or will the double roller chain work with the current sprockets? I know double rollers are supposed to be better, but I wasn't sure if they used a different pattern.

It DEFINATELY won't work with the stock gears.
If you check out the pics I put up in the other thread you should be able to see the differences (if they're still there...haven't checked).

Sounds like the jist of it. We won't know till we try and just because one person throws BS doesn't mean it won't happen!

Yes it will work. GM didn't chage the timing set on the 2.0,2.2 or 2200 after they went to the silent link timing set. Just machine the center of the cam gear as stated above and do the minor block work as per the 2L build-up guide. Note there is even instructions as how to instal cam degree bushing in the 2L buld-up guide, if you wish to degree the cam.
Crap! I got the gears and the chain but i can not order the tensioner!!!! Where can i get the tensioner!?
Anyone know where to get the tensioner!?
Finally!
I spent some (more) time doing research on this. I have a one-number answer.
AE Clevite Part Number 9-3409 timing set.
After locating and downloading the catalog I was able to find this kit contains the following parts:
9-182 Double Roller Chain
S-532 Cam Sprocket
S-529 Crank Sprocket
9-5137 Tensioner
9-5138 Damper
This kit appears to be available through partsamerica.com for $95.99 not including shipping. Remove the dash before entering the part number on that site.
For future reference, if anyone orders this kit from a local store, please post the name of the store and the area it's in. Clevite parts are hard to find here in central New Hampshire. The strange thing is, Advance Auto is owned by Partsamerica but can't get Clevite engine parts. Jeez... marketing.
HTH

Partsamerica rejected my order becasue they can NOT get the tensioner....
