there are lots of posts....you just have to search all forums. I was in the same boat.

if you go auto to auto....its a pretty easy swap.....but if you go to manual you have to weld in 2 mounts

Transmission will not fit the Eco, and no, it will not be replaced with an Eco. Also, your engine isn't a Quad4. They won't replace it with an Eco because of how much it would cost (replace tranny, bcm, ecu, etc).

no they wont put an eco in it.....they will put what was in it.

in order to install an eco you have to basically redo most of the car

to swap a eco into your 01 Z24

you need the motor and trans , and the engine harness for the eco , pcm and the bcm

if you keep the trans swap 5spd to 5spd , or auto to auto itll be a direct easy swap

BCM is not needed, ha, tells you how much people here know about this swap, and does anyone wanna question me?? lol jk
He has a 2001 guys, and I don't know if that makes much difference to you all, but it makes Eco swap in his car possible from like 4 days to 1 day. lol

what i was thinking about the swap would be direct bolt. just because the 01's came with eco's too that is all, the eco is a far better motor than the 2.4, 2.3 though it may have little girly rods but that is easily fixed.. just looking at potential and after boosting my friends 03 and seeing the results of a @!#$ty azz setup.. its all we could afford.. got him a 14.0 on 8psi with a turbo that a lawn mower would spool... but i really have not had much expeirance with the 2.4, i ran a 16.5 on my second run ever in a fwd car.. and i have no tach in my car, it was stock and i was actually shifting around 5500. so 16.2 would have been an easy goal... sorry for rambling but you guys understand right? i am just juggling

Ecotec motor didn't come on the J's until late 2002 so you are wrong there, there is no Eco available in 2001.
I would be a very easy swap unless your tranny is auto then it would be a little harder if you are going manual but you could get Eco automatic. too.

I have done 3 swaps and each time the car would start following my Theft bypass, including mine. All by far mismatching BCM's.
I guess it is just luck thing.

He is correct. I have done 2 ecotec swaps. A 2000+ car is a easy swap depending on the tranny you want to go with. motor, tranny, ECU, if you can get the BCM, but not a have to. Engine bay wiring.

No the 2.4 tranny will not bolt to a Ecotec. Re read my post I told you what you need. I say easy because I have done 2 pre 2000 J/ We had to strip everything out of them, re-wire the whole car, fuel tanks, fuel lines, weld in the mounts put interior back together. Lots of work, compared to just dropping in a motor for your car, engine bay wiring, tranny.
