why do you want to replace a 2.3L with a 2.4L? I am pretty sure they are very similar so the motor should go in with very little modification if any.

My 2.3 blew up. We have another with some parts missing but a car came in my dads shop with a motor with a small crack and the warranty is gonna cover it. So we got an extra 2.4 that needs a little work but runs awesome. My dad figured we could just put that one in.
besides in a couple more months I'm gonna turbo it.

Cool. I say go for it. The 2.4L is a great motor. Keep us up to date and good luck.

Only problem i see is tha some 95 models were OBD I and all 99 are OBD II so it may not be just plug and play.

The 1995 2.3 is a @!#$ty motor anyways. Yes the mounts are the same. It might, might not be plug n play. Just get the PCM for the 99 2.4 and the harness as well and if it runs... it runs.

I know that those who have tried to install a 2.3 from a more recent model i had to do some work switching to an OBD ! from OBD II. I think OBD II may have more bells and whisteles.

im wondering why he doesnt drop a HO in?? its a direct swap...itll bolt to his stock tranny and he wont need to change any wiring..not to mention gain 30hp or so!!! ...if he swaps in the 2.4 hes gonna need the compter and the wiring...but its his choice

I agree, I would look for a 2.3 HO motor, less headaches, more power. Brandon (CavFan1) swapped an HO in his 95 and he ran a 14.530@96.589 with minor mods. A turbo on the HO would be nice too.

He got an automatic transmission so he's OBDII and being auto, it's not gonna work with the Ho engine.

No he doesn't need the wiring harness nor the Ecm. Give me a 2.2 and I'll run a W41 ecm on it and the engine will run without ANY problem. He gotta use the 2.3 sensor in some case but it will most likely be plug and play. Both (his 2.3 and the 2.4) got cam sensor, OBDII 02 sensor and the same PS pump.

He'll have to use the 95 2.3 injectors.

Find me one

It's not as easy as pluging the ecm on the 2.2 harness. You gotta change a few things (IE: injectors, coil, ...) but it will run.

If he wants to run a 2.4, thats a cake swap for him. If he wants to be precise, just use a 96 2.4 Auto ECM. They use the same plugs and wiring.

O noes!
