i was wondering whats better for hp gains with a bored 59mm throttle body a h.o 2.3l intake manifold swap or a venom intake manifold
i would go with the HO intake, much less expensive, easy to find, not to hard of an install
venom intake= expensive
plus you wont see huge gains with either so your gains will probably be about the same
i'd go with the HO as well
I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.
Ho. you can always get it polished up and make it look pretty. the Venom intake is expensive and I've never seen any huge official numbers from these so yeah. HO to win.
you could always try the RSM intake mani....less money than the venom
RSM intake manifold? Better off with HO intake long time ago some one compared RSm and there was very little difference if any and the gains were not even noticeable.

RSMs manifold is the exact same as a stock manifold, the only difference is they bor off the lip so it will pit their big bore TB

A HA HA HA HA!!!
That is such a load... the RSM "ported intake manifold" IS a stock manifold. It's just the 99 stock manifold, before the "detuner lip" was added for the 2000 model year to drop the hp.
The lip has nothing to do with clearance for the throttle plate as RSM claims. There is no way in hell that the throttle plate would ever come close to touching the edge of the intake manifold. Ever. The throttle plate would have to fall out!! In which case, you have bigger problems.
Fun fact: the 99 2.4L was the fastest production 4 banger stock... period. Go try it. Race a stock 99 Z24, GT, LS, whatever (with the 2.4L engine) against any other stock J-car... Eco, 2.4L (96-98, 00-02), Quad 4 (95)... the 99 will put down the most power on average, right out of the box.
^^^mostly correct, partially incorrect
having actually bought the manifold with the TB from RSM when they used to say you needed it bored out because it might get caught, i should know
it did at one point have that "detuner lip" you can see where they dremeled it out, or drilled it off or whatever, still not saying it is different at all from the stock one, but it did at one point have the lip
the rsm is bored to clear the 61/62 mm tb , and it is pretty close
and 99's being the fastest , i only see that as a myth
i had a friend that ran 15.0's in his 02 Z24 sedan 5spd , upper and lower mount and to boyz intake was all that was done , and this was even on the stock rsa's

Oh, I have one too. Mine is a stock 99 intake manifold (I checked the part number). It's been spray painted gloss black, with a silver RSM sticker on it. That's it. I assume that they use the cores, dremelled out, as the new PIM's... makes perfect sense.
Either way... not worth what they charge for it.
And there is NO WAY IN HELL it would get caught. Trust me. I will take pictures as proof if you need convincing

ok i bought the h.o intake with a 59mm throttle body i wonder if ill get any gains off of it
You got that mani off ebay didnt you. I was the other bidder. How much did you end up paying for it and what did he give you with it?
it comes with the 59mm tb and the already fitted intake i had been talking to him for days about it and finally came up with a price of 230 shipped for them both comes with a buntch of other wires and tubes i need
He told me the TB was 56 mm. Oh well... hopefully that works out for you he told me he was going to let the auction run but I told him I was done bidding. I guess I helped you out a little.
i have a HO manifold sitting in my car if you guys wanna buy it
Is it fitted already or no?
No 59mm tb man.
Just the 56mm one.
