Best Way to rebuild a 2.4
Thursday, October 13, 2005 6:17 PM
Im buying a new engine for my 99 Z24 and i wanted to completely rebuild the one im taking out and build it to run with a turbo. Has anyone done this before and is it better to get a 2.3 and rebuild that one?

i think if youre set on going turbo id stay with the 2.4...just build it properly to withstand the power you want to reach..if you go with a 2.3 youre gonna have to replace your ecm and wiring and all that..2.3s are good for N/A builds i dont think it worth swaping over to turbo..but if you really want to you can ..itll work just as good if not better..just depends on how deep your pockets are ...as usual

Would it be better to have the 2.3 intake manifold or just keep the stock one on there because i have heard that they have more potential then the LD-9 manifold.

im pretty sure Everything on a 2.3 had a better POTENTIAL than an LD9 ..but..to answer your question..yes..get a 2.3 HO intake manifold with the throttle body...much better flowing

That was what i had heard and i wanted to do that because i think it will be easier to run all the piping with the turbo since that comes out of the side and i like how they look better. also does anyone know what compression i should run to get the most out of a turbo?

how hard is it to do the 2.3 conversion on a 2.4 and does anyone know how much they cost or how much power they add

The best way to have a 2.4 rebuilt is to have Miller Performance do it

Im building a 2.4 right now for a turbo application. Im still debating on if I want the HO intake mani or not. Im still collecting parts before I do the swap. My 2.2 will soon be gone

from what ive read the HO manifold raises the compression a good bit, and i always thought turbo required a lower compression....HO in combo with low compression pistons maybe? im kind of interested in doin that head swap on my 97 2.4 but ive read it would be a pain....water jackets dont line up ect. ect. someone please correct me if im wrong...id like to learn more about doin this swap
