2.4 GM S/C Build
Saturday, October 08, 2005 7:46 AM
My project this winter is going to get started soon, and I'm hoping some of you guys can help me figure out what I want to do. As of now I have to rebuild my bottom end, if not replace the block. I have a lot of blow by in my first cylinder around the piston. Once the engine is taken apart I'll be able to see what's going on in there. Now for the main question: I'm planning on installing the GM supecharger, but I want to know what other things I should do to give my car some quickness? It will not be going to the track, but I'd just like to have some balls when I'm driving around. Here's what I've been thinking about so far and hopefully you guys can help me.

GM S/C
Secret Cams
RSM lightened stock size pulleys
320cc injectors
Greddy E-manage
2k+ starter
RKSport Fuel Pressure Riser
Header(open to suggestions)
2.5" exaust
High flow cat

Any suggestions or comments are welcome. I'd like to get 250-300 hp/lbs. of torque out of my car. I'm just getting into the performance side of things, so I'll probably ask some dumb questions, but I've been searching and reading for a little while trying to learn as much as possible. I'd like to get some info on the smaller pulleys I see people are using and water injection if anybody can tell me some more about them. Thanks

Well if your going more for performance..and it being a winter project. I'd do a 5speed swap. Then put in a Spec stage 2 and aluminum flywheel, even a lsd..as for the RSM pulley's, I'd put the cash else where in parts(a.k.a into the 5speed swap)
If you don't know how to drive stick..well then learn, it'll take you not even an hour to grasp the concept

he// if you are going that far you might as well go and port the head and a 5 angle valve job with a 30deg back cut on the exhaust valves. maybe even with 1mm over valves.

see ya!

I'd look into the 2.5" pulley, alcohol injection kits can be found on Ebay or at Cooling Mist. I'd look into forged 10:1 pistons.

you are mistaken if you think those mods are going to yield 250+hp. especially on an automatic. most gm s/c guys are seeing about 190ish hp.

maybe i'm missing something, but what difference would it make whether it's an auto or stick??

Now, if your getting a supercharger, you're not using a stock size pulley, you'll be using a pulley set that comes with the supercharger.

RKSport Fuel Pressure Riser

I wouldn't waste my time with this...your real tuning is with your e-manage.

I would say go with the Ceramic Coated 4-1 Pacesetter Header

Now I want you to know, on an automatic, you won't see 250 WHP on the pulley that they give you (I think 6 psi max). If you upgrade the pulley set (I think it's about 10 psi max) than 220-240 WHP range is do-able. But of course, you won't know till you actually do it.

Good Luck, any questions just ask.

Thanks for all the responses guy. Bika, you know I'm gonna be on the phone with you before I actually put this thing on. Where can I find the upgrade set of the pulleys? Is it something Pace parts will have or do I order it somewhere else. As far as the injection kits, should I build the kit myself or are the pre put together kits good? Again, thanks for all the help guys!

I had the GM S\C kit on my 01 Z24 and Adams rite on the money. The RK FPR is not good and stick with a 4 into 1 design header. Also as far as the 2.5 pulley and acholol kit, I would not use this setup. I spent a lot of time modding and testing my Z and it just comes to be that the M45 GM blower is just too small for the 2.4 engine at boost levels over 7-8psi. No if GM had used the M62 or M90 with an intercooler you could run higher boost levels. Like on my Cobalt SS it has a 2.0 Eco intercooled M62 blower at 12.5 stock. Bottom line run the 2.65 pulley and do other modds like cams, Head P&P, and DRY nitrous. The car will fly.

Modds:
GM Stage 2 with SFPHQ 2.8 pulley
Injen Intake
GM Dual Pass Aftercooler w15psi Surge Tank
GMPP Exhaust Manifold
CTi 3" Downpipe and Cat
Custom 3" Cat Back with Dynomax Super Turbo Muffler
ZZ Engine Mount
ZZ Front Trans Mount
B&M Shifter
NGK BKR7E Plugs
DC Strut Tower Brace

Soon to be installed:
2.6 pulley, Siemens 60lbs Injectors, NGK 2 Step Colder Plugs
Tune Time Custom Dyno Tune

The 2.4 GM S/C kit Blower is too small to move more than about 215 crank hp worth of air. No matter what else you change on the engine.
