Alternative to buying poly motor mounts
Thursday, October 06, 2005 10:15 PM
I was searching around http://www.neons.org because the mounts on my beater are shot and I wanted some cheap replacements. I stumbled across a post with this link in it. There are a bunch of people on neons.org using either this stuff or windsheild polyurethane to fill their stock motor mounts to get the same effect as buying filled motor mounts. I figured I'd share this info with the JBO community. I ordered a can of this stuff for my Neon, and I'll probably save some of it for when I swap in an LD9 or an ECO.

Crap, I forgot to even see if j-body mounts are hollow like a Neon's mounts. If not, just disregard this post.

you can do this on the upper mount because its an insert but not the lower as it is a full replacement. personally id spend the money and get the insert. theres a gp on the upper for 15 bucks .

I already bought a can of the liquid urethane. Besides, it's cheaper that way for me (get all the mounts done on the Neon, and the mount on the Cav for $38 as opposed to $55 for the Neon inserts and the Cav insert). Sorry guys, I didn't know there was a GP going on, bad timing . But, anyway, that option is thrown out there for those of you that own a car with mounts that can be filled .

I have the full poly and love em, cheap/good mod!

You can do it on the lower mount, I had one laying around, and filled it with liquid nails believe it or not. Just the front portion.

One weekend earlier this year I had this girl's Sunfire GT I knew, she went on a trip my girl, and left it with me. So I swapped it in out of boredom, and it made a nice improvement, but not nearly as much as the poly. Which is good cause she woulda hated them in an auto.

I just helped me friend do this on his 2004 neon. It works, I believe it is stiffer than my car customs mounts. There was a major improvment with his wheel hop.
